CHOO! CHOO!

Look what I did today: P1020679

What?  Can’t tell?  Here…look closer!P1020669

I GOT BRACES!

(the little blue you see is a stopper…to keep me from biting down on my bottom front brackets)

I am so excited!  I went in to Berg Orthodontics for a consultation as a recommendation from a fellow dance competition judge.  Dr. Berg was ranked #1 in his School of Dentistry class and was excepted as 1 of 6 into the USC orthodontist program.

Dr. Berg does speed braces.  A newer technology to speed up the amount of time spent in braces resulting in fewer cavities, healthier gums, healthier roots, less decalcification (permanent white spots on the front of your teeth), and better results.  Also, he limits the number of patients he sees daily so he can spend much more time with every patient at each appointment….making patients get done faster.  Many orthodontists see as many as 100+ patients/day.  Dr. Berg sees less than 40.

During my consultation Dr. Berg told me I would not need oral surgery (as stated by a different orthodontist at a previous consultation) and it would only take 1 – 1.5 years (unlike the “hopefully two” I heard from the previously mentioned orthodontist).  PLUS, speed braces would be cheaper from Dr. Berg than the other orthodontist I considered, who would be doing old school braces.  Also, if I decided to get them I could go to a 4:00 appointment and take the spot of someone who canceled…in exchanged they would wave the $200 x-rays, molds, and records fee as a way of them not sitting around for two hours.

After a good long talk with the hubby, he said YES to train tracks on my teeth!

I called up the orthodontist office and snagged the 4:00 appointment.  When I went in I thought I was getting x-rays and molds done and would be coming back for brackets.  To my surprise, the 2 hour appointment included getting on my brackets!!

So in 12-18 months expect to see an after picture containing some glamorous teeth!

Thanks Adam for making another wish list item come true! I love you! (Aren’t I a lucky wife!?)
