Day 127: A song
When I was younger I always wanted to go on a mission for my church. I wanted to share with the world what I know to be true and something that I hold so dear to my heart. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and I couldn’t wait to scream it at the top of my lungs. Not to mention I wanted to follow in the exact same footsteps as my sister, Lisa, who served in Tacoma Washington.
I started dating a boy before he went on his mission (okay two boys…but that is a different (and long) story for another day…or not). I wrote to him the whole time. As it came closer and closer to the time he would come home it also came closer and closer to the time I could submit my missionary papers. I would turn 21 in April but my missionary would get home in June. (I think that it was June…I kind of block those months out of my head now) I thought the world of him and knew that if I left on a mission that my super cute, wonderful, smart, and silly guy would be snatched up by the time a got home. I never wanted to play the “what if” game so I chose to not submit my papers and continue waiting for him.
Looking back on how that situation (and others) turned out I wish I would have turned in my papers. I wish I would have gotten out of dodge and served my Heavenly Father. I wish I would have spread the word about the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I wish I would have Jesus’ name proudly displayed on my chest for 18 months. I wish I would have helped people become closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
Now, young women get the opportunity to serve when they are 19. Oh! If I could have done that. No man would have stood in my way! I would have been out of here on the next bus. They are the luckiest girls!
Today I saw the best video ever! Here are 80 kids, girls and guys, from one high school, who have all chosen to go out and serve. (BEWARE! I guarantee that you will cry during this video. I lost it on the first one and cried every time another one found out where they were going.)
Remember when my brother opened his call? If not go HERE and HERE
Here is a song (and video), one of my favorite’s, about going out and serving the world:

I watched that video a couple of days ago and cried all of the way through it. Each one was so excited, no matter where they were called to serve. What an aweseome army the church is sending out. Never fear however…you and Adam can serve together. what a blessing you will be to your family!!
