Day 132: There I Stood…
It isn’t news when I tell you all that my
New Year’s resolution is to
lose weight.
I talk about weight loss as much as I do my child.
Before I got pregnant I lost
a lot of weight and was actually looking
quite good…if I do say so myself.
Then I got into the habit of “It’s
okay if I don’t workout; I am going to
get pregnant” and “It is okay if I eat
like a pig; I am going to get pregnant.”
Well, 40 lbs. and 18 months later, I finally
got pregnant.
At my first doctor’s appointment I stepped
on the scale. There I stood….looking at the
highest weight I had ever seen in my life.
And this was the beginning of my pregnancy.
While in my appointment I asked the
doctor how I could lose weight during
my pregnancy. Let’s just say he wasn’t
too thrilled about me asking that.
9 months later I had Beckham. I weighed in
WAY above where I ever imagined I could be.
I remember saying, “If I ever get above 200
lbs. I will have a mental breakdown.”
I didn’t.
After Beckham was born the first 15 lbs.
melted off. It was the best diet ever! I wanted
to lose weight and start looking good again.
I had high hopes that breastfeeding would
do that for me.
It didn’t.
I started to diet but as soon as I
did my milk supply slowed down.
Formula is freakin’ expensive so I decided
to hold off on losing weight so I could
nurse longer.
But, no matter what I did, dieting or not,
my milk supply tapered off. Now, I was unable
to nurse AND I wasn’t losing weight.
Talk about a lose/lose.
New’s Years came around and I decided that
my resolution would be to lose
50 lbs!
In fact, I told my husband (and the Lord)
that I wasn’t having another baby until I
was 50 lbs. lighter because there was
no way in hell I was ever getting
back to this weight again.
That is when I received a grant from
Girls Gone Sporty to get my
butt in shape…literally!
On January 2nd I was in my nutritionist‘s
office getting the low down on how I
was going to get my pre-baby, no…
my pre-pre-baby body back.
Since then I have been eating right
and working my booty off at the gym.
I am proud to say….
I have lost 23 lbs. since January 2nd!
It isn’t easy. In fact sometimes it is quite hard.
I love eating out with my hubby. I love dessert.
I love lounging on the couch at night with my hubby.
But I have put all the aside so I could
become healthy and more importantly,
HAPPY!

Wow!! Congrats woman! That is awesome!
Healthy goes hand in hand with happy…because without it we are miserable. Keep up the good work! You are doing awesome and I for one, am in awe of you. Working hard myself, but not having quite the same success…but still working at it.
